Sindabezi Island was our last stop 3 nights on a 14 night 6 location safari for a family of 8. What a way to finish the trip! Our own Island nestled amongst the fast flowing waters of the Zambezi. From the greeting at the landslide Tongabezi Lodge you knew this was going to be a special place.
A boat ride away you are greeted by the island staff - 7 of them when we stayed, who look after you in a way that no hotel will ever do.
Number 4 which has the most stunning sunsets, but does lack a bath. A log fire smouldered all day and in the cool evenings was stacked up to gather around for pre-and post dinner drinks. The food.. Extensive breakfast, three course lunch, afternoon tea and a three course dinner were all excellent, varied and used local ingredients. As well as your private space, there is a lounge bar area, a high level viewing platform with sofas to relax, two outdoor dining areas and a deck overhanging the river. Always somewhere to read a book without staying in your room. Charles, your personal valet discretely ensures that your 'hut' is perfect every time you go back. Brenda, our host gave the perfect balance of giving excellent service whilst not being at all intrusive.
It's close enough to Livingstone to see the falls in a morning and be back for lunch or to see the white rhino in the smallest game reserve in Africa.. No-one wanted to leave! Imagine a tiny, pristine, white sanded, no shoes required island paradise and you have Sindabezi. Well worth the 15 minute boat drive across from Tongabezi.
