Though movies whether HK or Hollywood would like to portray Hong Kong as a crime ridden city filled with Triad thugs and drug smuggling, the city in reality is very safe especially for tourists.
Hong Kong crime problems are mostly petty crimes like theft, vandalism. There are some cases of murder in the city but not as big or serious compared to the west. Hong Kong police force on the other hand is one of the finest in Asia and can handle situation.
