Very dirty, not well taken care of and only poor old men looking for young girls!! Prostitution is the no. Also a lot of crime! What an authentic carribean town. I enjoyed every aspect of my voyages into town. After having read in guide books about the wonderful attractions of Boca Chica, I was sorely disappointed in the run-down and depressing area that it actually is. Good only for loud parties and easy access to ladies of the night.
The only saving grace was a couple of really good restaurants. Right off the main strip there are several shacks with ladies frying fish that you selected on the spot.. If you like fry fish look no further..
The beach is steps away and is a favourite hang out sopt for the locals. Wow, I went to Boca Chica the day of my birthday March 20, the beach was very clean and people were nice they had a litte band playing music for me the whole day they also sang happy birthday to me. Wow this was fantastic. We stayed 7 nights at Casacoco , 3 blocks from the beach. Away from the music at night and walking distance to everywhere.
At this time of the year , if you want to enjoy the beach and the sun , be in the sea between 8AM and 10AM , it gets cloudy after and you have rain every day in the afternoon or early night , but not in quantity or time , just 20 minutes rain , I will say.
You should not eat lobster during those 4 months , March , April , May and June , it is reproduction time. In , they built a port that you can see on the right once on the beach , which gave me a bad impression on my first day. But the water is clean and clear especially in front of hotel Don Juan. Food on the island is very good , a plate of rice , black beans , plaintain , meat or fish could vary from to pesos. It is on Duarte street that you have the animation made by the girls.
