With area proms beginning Saturday, the hunt for wheels with appeal is on. Limousines come in many varieties, even apart from the dark-colored luxury sedans favored by those who want to arrive unnoticed, but in comfort. It's fair to say that does not describe the typical prom-going limousine renter.

Typically, Doino said, a group of friends gets together and rents the vehicle, although "we like the parent to make the reservation. Usually, one kid's parents have a host party, and everyone goes to the prom from there. They can also make the rounds and pick up passengers, which in most neighborhoods will turn some heads. At night, it looks like a spaceship floating along," he said. As with other limousine rental company representatives, Doino urged people wanting a vehicle to rent ahead to avoid disappointment.
The uniformed driver, in tie and jacket, opening the door for the partygoers is all part of "making them feel special," he said. Beyond the stretch limo, you get into the realm of the truly exotic. Clean Ride Limo, located in Alva, offers passenger Lexus and Bentley limos, a pink Hummer limo with gullwing doors and a wild disco interior, plus another passenger Hummer and a passenger Escalade limo, owner Bob Calvert said.
