I had never heard of Jerry Falwell before I moved there, and his followers seemed to inhabit every downtown corner. I didn't realize Seattle wasn't Falwell's home until I left two years later. That's my point. He was so ubiquitous on Seattle TV as well as everywhere else, I would eventually realize , I thought all Christians were his followers.
Lived in both Atlantic City and Las Vegas. Vegas is probably the 'stranger' of the two. AC is just impoverished; I found Vegas to be more complex. Bangkok: Rampant sexuality of all varieties very publicly on display but really repressed and proper at the same time.
I've visited a number of times, but never lived there There is something going on there that made my skin crawl every time I visited. Like I needed to look over my shoulder alot of the time. Hard to explain, yet there it was. On all the islands, but the bad feeling was strongest in Kauai.
