We've never used a thermal spa, but would like to try it on our upcoming Seaside cruise. I've reviewed posts and watched review videos but I'm still not sure what to wear. It seems like the lockers are rather small and intended to hold personal affects rather than clothing, so I'm guessing you arrive at the spa wearing your "spa outfit"? Which is a bathing suit? What's the protocol? For the Seaside and any other cruiseline where I used the spa area, I wear my bathing suit and a cover up.
I haven't been on MSC yet, but have used the thermal spas on other cruise lines. I wear my swimsuit under a cover up. The spa gives you a terry robe if you want, which I wear when roaming the halls from different areas and after my final shower. Then I dry off and put my own cover up on. Some ships have separate saunas in the men's and women's rest rooms and in those you can just wrap a towel around yourself if you prefer.
I'm trying to figure out the set up on Seaside but the maps aren't much help. I should add that MSC being Italian and having a more international cliental, they're attitude on such things may not be as puritanical as us Americans I'm thinking Speedos and topless beaches. Just part of the adventure. Currently on Meraviglia and enjoyed the Thermal Spa areas on this ship.
Everyone in the area were in bathing suits. No separate saunas or steam rooms for gender. All in one area. Those of us from YC had bathrobes and slippers that we wore going down elevator to spa area. Tried the various rooms and showers. Settled on Salt Room and then jacuzzi and thermal loungers. Three thermal loungers, center one is not heated. Towels available readily inside area as are cold water and tea. Locker rooms have towels and showers and toilets.
Initial check in has signed release then you receive a key for locker. There was a hilarious thread on here last year where men taking a massage were told they had to wear the paper underwear designed for women and they were told shorts were not allowed. Yes, l was on Seaside last month and when l presented myself for my Aurea massage, the masseuse offered me the option of going starkers on the table.
