Anything supported by Gay and Lesbian Health Norway must be easy to use, regardless of whether it is an HIV test or talking to someone about coming out. You don't need to register your name or any other personal information to use any of our services. All our services are free too - always. Gay and Lesbian Health Norway works to promote health and disease prevention for the sexual minorities of lesbians, gay men and bisexuals, as well as other women and men who have sex with people of the same gender.
You will find our articles of association here. Today, we work with HIV as part of our work to promote better sexual and psychological health among our target groups. Gay and Lesbian Health Norway's prevention strategy is to work with health challenges where research shows that men who have sex with men and women who have sex with women are more vulnerable compared with people who only have sex with people of the opposite gender.
Gay and Lesbian Health Norway's measures have been formulated with the aim of ensuring that more people in the target groups gain access to services and information to promote good health and reduce the risk of illness. More than 80 volunteers of all ages work with us to carry out our initiatives. When someone comes into contact with a volunteer at Gay and Lesbian Health Norway, they can be certain that the person has been thoroughly trained and can help you, for example by taking a quick test for HIV.
Our volunteers are supported by staff and medical personnel. That is three times as many visits as in The services provided by Gay and Lesbian Health Norway are what are often referred to as 'low threshold': Quick, free and without any red tape or appointments. We hope that we will get people to reflect on health among our target groups, because small steps can have a big effect on both individuals and public health generally. An example of this is the way in which testing yourself for HIV can lead to people receiving treatment, which in turn prevents the development of the disease and the risk of transferring the virus to others.
Low threshold for us also means that we go out and meet the target groups in their own environments. Many of our services are therefore available outside our offices in the centre of Oslo, including our chat services provided in town and our quick tests for HIV and syphilis, and we also visit clubs and saunas.
