Went here for souvenirs. Lock your car, some rough people. Most booths have the same souvenirs. Lots of sex souvenirs, I would NOT bring kids here. Also, bring cash. Most sales people are extremely pushy, a few are ok. Parking gets rough, very crowded on weekend.
Rodeo drive is much better shopping. Just lots of people yelling at you, touching you. Trying to sell their stuff or make you go into their restaurants.
We parked in a dirt parking lot as you reach the main malecon area near the water. The lot says fee parking and a ton of cars are parked there. We ate at a restaurant and shopped for trinkets.
Went back after a few hours and found our car broken into. Thankfully nothing of value taken and nobody was hurt. Two other cars were broken into and they had purses and passports taken. Other than that it is hard to avoid since a bunch of restaurants and tours are in that area but we will probably be more reluctant to go spend money there now. The Malecon here does not compare to say the Mazatlan Malecon.
It is a crammed mixture of restaurants, fisheries below , and tourist trinket stuff plus miscellaneous shops. I tend to go off the main drag, where there are smaller places to eat, quieter, and less congested.
