Was once one of the best fun loving streets to visit. Have some good pubs and hangouts. But while walking to your destination you are constantly accosted by guys from North Africa trying to sell you drugs.
And once in the pubs there are several ladies of the night sitting at the bar vying for your attention. And they are not even worried about the partner who you are with. I would avoid any pub there and only visit a restaurant if you really want to experience the vibe of Long street.
But then also get dropped of in front of the restaurant and don't chance walking there. Excellent place with the rooftopbars and the all the cafe's and bars. Also in daytime a perfect place for an African Lunch.
A very lively place.. Gangs are looking out for unsuspecting tourists.. They are like magicians!! Park the car, take a day and stay over to really experience everything that Long Street has to offer. More food options to choose from that you can imagine and lovely hotels to stay the night!
Interesting long street full of designer hotels and bars. Colourful patterns and designs. Some good restaurants. Beware of vagrants that sit on neighbouring streets. Beale Street without the music! Plenty of bars and the "keg" thing with little taps was really cool; would like to have one for a pub where I live, instead of a jug! But the beggars are way too persistent! Cape Town Central.
