Will it ever get warmer, am hoping so, can't remember a time when we'd have the log burner on as regularly as we have now. It has been a great start to the year, we spent a couple of weeks in South Africa taking part in an Elephant Conservation Project with the N. O Bring the Elephant Home. We spent time in the field with scientists and people passionate about conservation, staying in dorms and not the Park Lodges as many people thought.
It involved long days in the field looking for and tracking elephants, to monitor the effect of fence removal between the parks. We then had a week on a small ship sailing around the Maldives. Only 12 passengers on the ship, so relaxing, great food, a great experience and many new memories made.
Then we stopped off in Hua Hin, Thailand to visit friends, and spend some time with them in an area we both love. Finally we returned to Hong Kong, mainly to go watch the Hong Kong Sevens rugby tournament, but also to catch up with our friends still living there.
Our travels this year will soon take us to the Arctic , to a summer of midnight sun and polar bears. I will report back on our return. I am accompanying some Travel Counsellors friends on a visit to Vietnam later in the year, and we have a hankering to go back to Japan in , with it and many other Asian countries featuring on the current "Race Around the World " TV series.
