Some expats say,Carnegies in Taipei used to be a great place for drinking and dining with the most beautiful atmosphere,when it was,in good old days. But 10 years later,it become too popular for tourists while services are average,and its definitely poorer management than it was once. Especially when a glass of free drink is provides at Ladies night on every Wednesday that means you will find Barbie's looking hookers meet lonely business travelers. But it can be still fun for early evening appetizer or watching football game on the big screen.
Every time I come back to Taiwan, I'm impressed with the level of services that even the street food vendors provide. Needless to say that any known place in town would have more than acceptable service staff. Carnegies was recommended by my expat friends and those who travel to Taiwan for business often as a good hangout for a late evening drink or Sunday brunch. I took their advice and brought my wife and daughter with me several weeks ago. It was a few days after we left sunny socal, and we were craving a relaxed U.
The food was subpar at best. My over easy eggs were served mistakenly as scrambled eggs. My wife's poached eggs looked and tasted as if they were taken out of the microwave. Asked multiple times for refills to our iced tea and iced coffee, and they never came. Waitresses have mean looks on their face, and were shouting at each other to communicate. Asked for our check several times with different waitresses, and finally they told me to go to the bar to pay for our meal Grew up in the U. No longer will I patronize this place nor will any of our friends, white, black or yellow will ever come here again!
I loved this bar before The night scene WAS great. The weekend brunch WAS really nice. But now the food quality seems not what it used to be and hookers past their prime are abundant at night. Though its still fun to hung around in the early evening time if you befriended some of the regulars here.
Carnegies had its time maybe 10 years ago.. When I came back visit now, was tons of hookers and tourists.. Over priced and full of hookers. Frequented by business men abroad. At 4am it feel like the end of the world. Own or manage this property?
