I guess we'd be living in a boring, perfect world if everybody wished everybody else well. They say such nice things about people at their funerals that it makes me sad to realize that I'm going to miss mine by just a few days.
There were millions of ways that the world could kill me. Fiction is obliged to stick to possibilities. Truth isn't. Oh, I don't blame Congress. I love being married. It's so great to find that one special person you want to annoy for the rest of your life.

You have to be smart enough to understand the game, and dumb enough to think it's important. It's takin' whatever comes your way, the good AND the bad, that give life flavor. It's all the stuff rolled together that makes life worth livin'.
Better shun the bait, than struggle in the snare. What other dungeon is so dark as one's own heart! What jailer so inexorable as one's self! Sorrow was like the wind. It came in gusts. Skiing combines outdoor fun with knocking down trees with your face. All great truths begin as blasphemies. O, it is excellent to have a giant's strength; but it is tyrannous to use it like a giant.
