This has been our best stay in Cambodia so far. Anelyse, her husband and their cute daughter are incredibly lovely and welcoming. The place itself is a little outside of town, but you can easily take the bikes or even one of the family's motor bikes. Anelyse gave very good recommendations where to go or where to eat. Though at first I was a little sceptical about sleeping in a house without screens, I was astonished, that there was almost no critter in the rooms.
Just a few mosquitos, which you can easily get rid of with a nice racket, they provide. Breakfast was delicious and we also enjoyed the beautiful garden around the communal area. It was hard to leave in the mornings and it was even harder to head on to the next city.
Go there! It's an amazing place. Anelyse sent us exact information how to get to her place a little out of town which is a nice place to be. We had breakfast at her place the husband went to the market for us in the early morning. The khmer house was beautiful and comfortable however one needs to know it is actually built traditional style and open, so bring your moskito spray there is a very good moskito net on the bed. We could even rent a motorbike here for a reasonable price.
We were unlucky with the one we got brakes stopped working on the way so please make sure you properly check it before leaving. However, it is a very good method to explore the area.
Outside of the town centre, you can hear beautiful birds and the unusual call of the tokay gecko. I was worried about insects but we did not see many and we had a very good mosquito net. The room has 3 fans and a fridge so we kept our cold water in there! Very comfortable bed and beautiful surroundings to wake up to.
