Just adding my two cents here. The street is definitely a must see, day and night. Food is not the best but sitting on the streets and drinking a beer is pretty awesome. It's all pretty much out in the open and bar promoters double as pimps etc etc. I managed to visit this street a few times during my trip. I loved it, as I always do when I come across a crazy Asian party street. The bars are great fun, and you can get some decent food too. The beggars can get a bit too much but such is life in this part of the world.
Great spot, stay and enjoy it for what it is, the art reproduction shops are amazing. If you have a piece of art you want reproduced, these guys can do it. If you're looking for a good time with friends then visit this street. A lot of tourists and even locals. But beware crossing the busy street full of mopeds and cars especially when drinking.
Best place to party. Don't know how people love this area. Too much noise and garbage. Lots of tourist traps and food is bad in most restaurant.
My husband and are staying at a guest house on this street. Just walking up and down the street will almost overwhelm you senses in an awesome way.
